Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed his plans to take on reigning UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea.
Last season, Mosimane and his Ahly side by virtue of winning the CAF Champions League, had the opportunity of taking on Dieter-Hansi Flick’s Bayern Munich side at the FIFA Club World Cup, a match which they lost 2-0 courtesy of an inevitable Robert Lewandowski brace.
Now, the ever ambitions Jingles has set his sights on another European giant.
This time, it is last season’s Champions League winners Chelsea who he could face in this year’s edition of the Club World Cup.
[A] Japanese team [in the] first game. Hopefully we avoid Chelsea, and we get a South American team, or a central American team and then we get Chelsea in the final,” Mosimane said in a segment on his Instagram account.
First up for Mosimane though, is next week’s Egyptian Super Cup tie against Tala’ea El Gaish on 21 September, where he will be without marquee signing Percy Tau, who has suffered an injury blow that will see him miss at least three weeks of action.
