Live like you matter every day

Does this sound familiar?

How many of us do the same old thing on repeat and expect a different result? Our patterns and defaults kick in so easily when we are over-extended, exhausted and depleted. It’s understandable that this happens but it leads to us becoming passengers in our own lives. We continue to put others first, lose our ability to care for ourselves, and expect to be able to carry on regardless. Does this sound familiar?

What You'll Gain

This half-day workshop gives you space to breathe, prioritise your wellbeing and begin your own 5-step plan to make a difference straight away.

You’ll gain the clarity to understand what holds you back and the confidence to upgrade your wellbeing habits.

With expert guidance on the latest wellbeing science, and in the company of like-minded women, you’ll learn how to reclaim the wellbeing you deserve.

Why Now

Why is this programme needed now? We all know that women are incredible and resilient and strong but there is compelling scientific evidence of the impact of recent global events, and it shows women bear the majority of the burden. General wellbeing has decreased across the world, with women affected disproportionately and women of colour even more so.

Now more than ever, when wellbeing is squeezed, the global call is to prioritise physical and mental wellbeing. The following quotes show us the state we’re in. The stakes are high.

Research Findings

There’s no doubt we find ourselves in challenging times. Changes are definitely needed. And we all know that change begins with each one of us. Smarter self-care is key. We need to reinvent how we look after ourselves and one another. This programme shows us how.

“Our findings show that COVID-outcomes are systematically better in countries led by women and, to some extent, this may be explained by the proactive and coordinated policy responses adopted by them.”

Leading the Fight Against the Pandemic: Does Gender ‘Really’ Matter?, Supriya Garikipati and Uma Kambhampati, University of Liverpool and University of Reading

“The events of 2020 have turned workplaces upside down. Under the highly challenging circumstances of the Covid-19 crisis, many employees are struggling to do their jobs. Many feel like they’re “always on” now that the boundaries between work and home have blurred. They’re worried about their family’s health and finances. Burnout is a real issue.

Women in particular have been negatively impacted. Women—especially women of color—are more likely to have been laid off or furloughed during the Covid-19 crisis,1 stalling their careers and jeopardizing their financial security.

The pandemic has also intensified challenges that women already face in the workplace. Working mothers have always worked a “double shift”—a full day of work, followed by hours spent caring for children and doing household labor. Now the supports that made this even possible for women—including school and childcare—have been upended.

Meanwhile, Black women already face more barriers to advancement than most other employees. Today they’re also coping with the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on the Black community.2 And the emotional toll of repeated instances of racial violence falls heavily on them.

Companies risk losing women in leadership—and future women leaders—and unwinding years of painstaking progress toward gender diversity.”

Women in the Workplace 2020, McKinsey

“[…] working mothers are the most affected by these unprecedented times, as most of their work at home is interrupted, with women able to do “on average only a third of the uninterrupted paid-work hours of fathers”. These interruptions that mothers are facing include caring for their children or elderly relatives, as well as taking care of housework. Dealing with other responsibilities while undertaking greater unpaid work than men has proven to have adverse consequences on the mental wellbeing of these working mothers.”
Why has Covid-19 impacted the mental health and wellbeing of women the most?, Aqsa Ahmed 20 Sept 2020.
